“I can’t imagine coming into office with this fact of this Russian engagement in our election, and not digging into it,” King told NBC’s Chuck Todd on “Meet the Press.”

“I believe it is one of the most serious attacks we’ve had on our country in recent years, and the president doesn’t seem interested in it,” he continued.

King went on to mention James Comey’s recent testimony before a Senate panel in which the fired FBI director said he met with Trump nine separate times.

“In none of those [interactions] did the president say, ‘What did the Russians do? How did they do it? How do you know they did it? And what can we do about it?’” King asked.

King’s comments come after The Washington Post reported last week the president was under investigation for obstruction of justice. Trump tweeted Friday saying he was under investigation for firing Comey.

“This is serious stuff, and all of this Trump, Comey and obstruction of justice is sort of obscuring the underlying of what I think is really the big story,” King said on Sunday.
